I grew up
and learned how to swim in Castro Valley CA.
I started swimming competitively at age 8 for a local
cabana league and joined USA Swimming at age 11.
I swam for several club teams in Bay Area and played club
volleyball year-round.
Despite being an All-American swimmer in my senior year I
fell into swimming burnout and accepted a volleyball scholarship
to Southern Oregon.
I stayed for 3 seasons then returned to California where I
re-joined the California school system as well as swimming.
While competing at the Junior College State Meet I was
noticed by the Head Coach for San Jose State University and was
offered a swimming scholarship.
I competed for 2 seasons with SJSU as a freestyle
sprinter and re-discovered my love for the water.
My first season was a complete test of will to survive,
but by my second season I was on all relays and finished 3rd
in Conference in the 50.
While in San Jose I met my fiancé and learned to
appreciate college football in a whole new way.
Shortly after graduation I intended to enter the
counseling field but soon learned something was missing.
I began swimming masters at Santa Clara Swim Club and was
soon offered an assistant coaching position.
I was on deck with just about every group at one point or
another and was eventually given several of my own groups that
truly became my pride and joy.
Our club was the fastest growing club in the nation in
2008 and underwent some major restructuring, all for the better.
It was a tough situation to leave, but when my fiancé was
offered a coaching job at the University of Wyoming we came to
Laramie where I am happy to be leading Laramie Swim Club!

My first swimming memory is looking up from
the bottom of the Laramie High School pool after losing a
kickboard during swimming lessons. The pool and I were both
much newer in those days. Having thus reduced my enthusiasm for
swimming below zero, I took some time off from the sport. I
later returned to swimming as an older and wiser young man and
went on to swim competitively for the Laramie Swim Club, Laramie
High School and Lewis and Clark College. (Rob swam
the 200 Free at National Junior Olympics and was a college
All-American swimmer in the 100 and 200 Butterfly). I
still enjoy swimming and try to train several times per week.
One of my fondest swimming memories is competing in the Alcatraz
Sharkfest with my son, Augie. My daughter, Sophie was there to
cheer me on and make sure that I finished.

I was
born and raised in Laramie, Wyoming.
When I was six months old my parents entered me in the
Water Babies program offered by the University.
Thus began my swimming career.
From Water Babies I continued onto lessons, and joined
the Laramie Swim Club when I was six.
Swimming was a constant in my life throughout elementary
and junior high school.
When I was a freshman in high school I took a break from
swimming to try my skills at tennis.
As it turns out I had none. I returned to the pool my
sophomore year where I competed and lettered in swimming my
remaining three years in high school.
I am
currently a senior at the University of Wyoming majoring in
American Studies with a minor in Spanish.
I am excited to be returning to the LSC as a coach.
Swimming has been a very important part of my life.
Today I maintain many friendships that I created as a
swimmer with the Laramie Swim Club.
As a coach I hope to not only help my swimmers develop
stroke technique, but to help them develop a love for the sport
that will last throughout their lifetimes.
